She earned her medical degree as the valedictorian from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, after completing her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University and earning a Master of Journalism from the University of North Texas. Dr. Rhodes completed her internal medicine internship at the University of Chicago Hospitals and her dermatology residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, where she also served as Chief Resident. She has been recognized as a Texas Super Doctor multiple times and a Top Doctor by Austin Monthly Magazine, among other accolades.
